Say hello to Rowen (and her older brother, Myles). Rowen's mommy, Nikki, contacted me a few months before the session asking if we could find a place to do her birthday photos. We shuffled through several ideas and then a lightbulb went off in my head, let's get some cute rain boots, an adorable dress and go splashing in the river. Nikki was so excited that she immediately started searching for the perfect outfit, I'd say she has great taste!
Though Rowen was a little nervous at first to walk through the water, she soon felt comfortable to adventure, at times with help from her brother!
Say hello to Myles (and his little sister, Rowen). I've photographed these two for the past several years & it's been a lot of fun watching them grow up & see their personalities evolve. Since the first session, I have always told Myles there was a lizard in my camera & if he smiles really big the lizard will make the camera go "click" and he just might jump out to visit.
Fast forward to a year later & one of the first things Myles said was, "Can I see the lizard?" So, every session I'm sure to bring the lizard along and hide him inside my lens so he can visit Myles.
A few months ago Nikki, their mother, contacted me to photograph their upcoming birthdays; Myles was turning four and Rowen was turning three. She wanted to capture them in their own little world, Myles loved that his daddy was soon to become a firefighter and Rowen loved wearing pretty dresses with her hair up. So that's exactly what we did. We headed to the Columbus Firefighter Academy & Myles was dressed like daddy (so was Rowen!).
This year's fall minis were such a success, thanks to many new & repeat families. I cannot thank you all enough for supporting my passion, means the world to my family & I! I hope you enjoy.
Back in October I reached out Mikaela asking if I could capture some sweet moments of her & her family. I have always been inspired by Mikaela & Amber's love for each other & their true, authentic style, quite frankly I wish I could put together outfits like Mikeala & see the world as artistically as Amber.
During their shoot I gave direction on how I wanted them standing or where to look, but beyond that their passion for one another came naturally; it was 100% genuine. I can't thank you two enough for going on a little river adventure & allowing me to snag a few special moments of you & your sweet babes.
As the 2016 wedding season began to wind down I felt as if I was just getting started. I was wanting to push the boundaries of a typical wedding. With the urge to move away from the blush colors & the gold finishes, I began my hunt to find the perfect location for a styled shoot. I was looking for a space that was raw, unrefined & quite frankly a little beat up! I wanted the space to bring its own character, I was also looking for a spot that provided lots of natrually lighting. With the help from Page Price, the owner of The Rural Society Flowers, I was able to find an old photographers studio from the 1800's in Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
The chipped paint, floor to ceiling windows, exposed brick & the dirty, unfinished floors inspired me to move forward with this styled shoot. My mind kept stearing towards deep accent colors with the hope of finding an over the top gown, a gown that spoke for itself. That's when I fell in love with an Ian Stuart gown called "Wanderlust" from White of Dublin. It. Was. Perfect.
With the incredible talent of The Rural Society Flowers, designer of all the floral pieces, Hayley Brooks, creative behind the invitations, Lauren Passauer, the fabulous wedding cake creator & the genuine couple, Nikki & Dustin Kelch, the Dark & Romantic Styled Warehouse Wedding came alive. I hope you feel inspired.

When Allison's mother contacted me to photograph her 11 year old daughter who was in point shoes as a ballerina, I was so excited. What got me even more excited was the fact that The Ohio State fair was beginning in just a few short days. A young ballerina amongst colorful rides that take you back to childhood, what could be better (other than a mouthful of cotton candy!)?
Thank you Allison for such a fun & memorable shoot!
