Babymoon. A term I had never heard before I got pregnant, seems to me that it is the perfect word for a last chance, peaceful getaway! My husband, Garrison, and I traveled to the Bahamas and experienced our first Air BnB stay, it was wonderful! If you are looking for a peaceful, completely private, go to the beat of your own drum type of vacation...this is it!
About 200m from our house was a private beach where five doggies lived. We visited this beach several times, mainly to say hello to our new friends!
Best part of any vacation, in my opinion, is trying the local food. Our Air BnB host owned a restaurant about 1 mile down the road. The menu was full of local options and they served Sunday brunch, SO tasty! I chose the seafood omelette & coconut french toast. My husband ordered a local favorite, fish stew (whole fish, bones & all!) & a slice of Johnny cake (another local favorite).
One of our first adventures was to Clifton Heritage Park. It was such a hidden gem, from it's amazing views of endless ocean water, to the steep cliffs overlooking the water. We later came back and snorkeled for about two hours, incredibly relaxing and always fun!
One evening before dinner we decided to catch the sunset & of course say hello to our fur friends! Nothing is more peaceful than watching a sunset while sitting in the sand.
On our last day we decided we would go on an adventure to Paradise Island and get a taste of the touristy areas. After getting lost several times (because I'm awful at reading a map) we finally made it to a public beach. Of course the second we step on to the beach locals are offering us alcoholic beverages, water sports, and more! The day began with lots of sunshine but the clouds began to roll in quickly, so we headed to grab some lunch at a cafe near the boat docks.
Garrison & I were beyond happy that we took the time to travel somewhere new. Would we go back? Yes, however we don't like to repeat vacations, so I'd absolutely recommend Air BnB in the Bahamas but our next adventure will take us elsewhere.
